Paddy Power 2 Up: the Rules in Plain English

In this guide

Paddy Power's 2 Up & You Win rules in plain English: which market, which bets, what is excluded, and how matched bettors use it. 18+.

Paddy Power's "2 Up & You Win" settles your football bet as a winner if the team you backed goes two or more goals ahead at any point in the match. If they then throw the lead away, you are still paid. A team 2-0 up that draws 2-2 still pays.

Many pages ranking for this still show promo codes from 2024. You do not need a code: you need the right market.

The rules

Last checked 10 Oct 2026. Paddy Power can change these; read the promotion terms on their site before betting.

  • Market: the bet must be on Paddy Power's separate 2UP market (named "Match Odds - 2UP" in the terms we found). Ordinary match odds markets, including enhanced prices, do not qualify.
  • Timing: bets placed before kick-off only. In-play bets do not qualify.
  • Matches: selected matches only, including the Premier League and other major leagues. Check the match page for the 2UP market.
  • Customers: new and existing customers, 18+.
  • Accumulators and Bet Builders: included in the terms we found. The leg that goes two up counts as a winner; every other leg still has to win.
  • Cash out: a bet you cash out in full no longer qualifies. Sources disagree on what happens after a partial cash out, so check the terms before relying on it.

Example

You back Arsenal to beat Brentford on the 2UP market. Arsenal lead 2-0 after 55 minutes. Paddy Power settles your bet as a winner. Brentford score twice and the match ends 2-2. Your bet stays a winner.

How matched bettors use Paddy Power 2 Up

  • Step 1, back: back the team on the 2UP market.
  • Step 2, lay: lay the same team on an exchange at a close price.
  • Step 3, if the team never goes two up: the back and lay cancel out, apart from a small qualifying loss.
  • Step 4, if the team goes two up and then fails to win: Paddy Power has already paid your back bet, and your lay bet wins as well.

The 2UP market sometimes has slightly shorter odds than the normal match odds market, so finding a lay price close enough is the hard part. Our 2UPs: strategy, maths and mistakes guide covers the maths, and the 2Up offers guide compares Paddy Power with other bookmakers, including the bet365 version.

Common mistakes

  • Backing the normal match odds market. It looks the same, but it does not qualify.
  • Betting in-play. Only pre-match bets count.
  • Cashing out. A full cash out removes the 2Up cover.
  • Laying too late. Prices move before kick-off; place the lay straight after the back.

Do I need a promo code for Paddy Power 2 Up?

No code was needed when we checked. Codes shown on older pages are out of date.

Does it pay if my team is 2-0 down and comes back?

No. Only the team you backed going two ahead counts.

Does a draw count?

Only if your team was two goals ahead at some point before it became a draw.

Can I lose money?

Yes. Most bets carry a small qualifying loss, and mistakes or price moves can cost more. Only stake what you can afford to lose.

Safer betting

18+ only. Bookmaker offers are promotions; their terms can change or be withdrawn, so always check the bookmaker's own terms before betting. Matched betting reduces risk but does not remove it: mistakes, price moves and voided bets can cause losses. Only bet what you can afford to lose. Please gamble responsibly.
