A worked example
Back Leeds at 2.40 at Betfair Sportsbook, lay at 2.42 at the exchange. Leeds lead 2–1 at 90ʹ: Betfair Sportsbook pays out. Wolves equalise at 90+3ʹ: your lay wins too.
Example odds. Most of the time the result stands at 90 and you keep the small qualifying loss.
Step by step
- Find a close match. You want back and lay prices close together, so the qualifying loss is small. The matcher sorts them by rating.
- Work out the lay. Use the 2UP calculator: the maths is the same.
- Place both bets before kick-off. Back first, then lay straight away, before the price moves.
- If your team is ahead at 90 minutes, you have a choice: leave the lay running for a comeback, or close it at the exchange. The alert lands the second it happens.
- If not, you keep the qualifying loss and move on to the next match.
Mistakes that cost money
- The offer is Betfair Sportsbook, not the Betfair Exchange. You back on the Sportsbook and lay on an exchange.
- Check which markets and leagues the offer covers that day.
